Jazz Passion

The next concert series at Redeemer Lutheran Church (139 E. 1st St., Hinsdale) will feature the critically acclaimed Jazz Passion on Sunday, March 1st at 4:30 pm.  In March 2010, the world premiere of the Jazz Passion took place at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Chicago.  Andy Tecson (Redeemer member), Bobby Lewis and Bobby Schiff composed and arranged the music, and the libretto (text) was written by Pr. David Abrahamson, senior pastor at St. Luke.  The new musical work tells the story of the last days of Christ's life, starting with the temptation of Christ in the wilderness and ending with His resurrection, all in a new and fresh light.  While being completely faithful to the scriptures, the interpretation is creative and insightful, and includes 12 instrumentalists and 12 singers.  Please join us for this wonderful opportunity!  Invite your friends.  Admission is free, and a reception will follow.  For more information, call 630-323-5530 or visit the following website:

seasons, west suburban symphony

Fabulous fours:  Bach's Orchestral Suite No. 4,

Beethoven's Symphony No. 4, and

selections from Vivaldi's Four Seasons

Maestro, Peter Lipari

April 12th @ 3:30 pm at Westmont High School

909 Oakwood Dr., Westmont

This cheerful chamber orchestra concert is centered on FOUR, a number rich in significance in philosophy, science and music.  Bach's rollicking suite was written as music for formal court dinners: an elaborate overture introduces dance movements, before a grand and joyful closing.  Beethoven's symphony is a finely crafted work with exquisite, sunny melodies.  Vivaldi's remarkable Four Seasons violin concertos are probably his most famous works; award-winning youth soloist Masha Lakisova joins the West Suburban Symphony to perform two of those lively pieces: Spring and Autumn.

RENDEZVOUS, West Suburban Symphony / JUNE 20TH @ 7:30 PM in Naperville

Star-crossed lovers have inspired passionate music for the stage over the centuries – this concert brings you some of the very best! Opera composers, and Bernstein in West Side Story, have set the tale of Romeo and Juliet to music, with magnificent results. The symphonic chorus and festival orchestra will draw you into five stirring works based on this ill-fated couple – by Bellini, Berlioz, Svendsen and Tchaikovsky as well as Bernstein. Rounding out the program is poignant music that tells of other tragic love, from Verdi’s Aida, Wagner’s Lohengrin, Puccini’s Madame Butterfly, Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor, and Herbert’s Naughty Marietta. Bring a hanky (or two).

Presented at Wentz Concert Hall, 171 E. Chicago Avenue, Naperville, Illinois 60540. For tickets, contact the West Suburban Symphony at (630)-887-7464 or order on-line using the attached website link:
